Company recognized among 109 applicants for its work eliminating super pollutants from commercial refrigeration
Lake Forest, IL [October 2, 2025] — Therm Solutions, Inc., a leader in eliminating super pollutants from the food supply chain, today announced it has been included in Trellis's 2025 "25 Climate Tech Startups to Watch" list. Therm was named in the Land Use and Carbon category alongside four other finalists: Sluicebox.ai, Revalue, Planet Savers, Inc., and Mitti Labs.
Grocery retailers and food distributors rely on hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants, among the most potent greenhouse gases in use today, which leak continuously over the lifetime of the equipment. The average grocery store leaks roughly 25% of its refrigerant charge every year. Across the more than 45,000 grocery stores in the U.S. alone, that leak rate adds up to a massive, largely unaddressed source of emissions.
As extreme weather puts growing strain on the global food supply chain, cold storage is only becoming more critical to keeping food safe and available; but that reliance comes with a climate cost. Therm works to close that gap, identifying refrigerant leaks across the cold chain, structuring the carbon finance needed to fund climate-safe replacements, and connecting that supply to buyers. To date, Therm has issued credits tied to more than 2 million tonnes of super pollutant emissions eliminated in the U.S. grocery sector, and is expanding that model into new regions and food systems.
